As early as our mid thirties,
the skin will begin to show the signs of ageing in various
ways. The skin tends to become thinner and loses it natural
elasticity. The lack of volume in the skin will result in
skin flaccidity and deep wrinkles especially around the nose
to mouth area, cheek area and folds around the mouth. Prior
to the development of Sculptra, one used dermal fillers to
fix these problems areas however, the cost of using dermal
fillers to volumize large areas is expensive to most individuals.
The development of Sculptra is a breakthrough in facial volumizing
since the result is long term and safe.
With Sculptra™, you can restore facial contour and get rid of lines and
wrinkles without surgery. Sculptra™ is a synthetic, injectable material
that contains skin-smoothing microparticles to help lift and smooth sagging
skin, severe wrinkles, creases, dark circles, and scars.

What is Sculptra made of?
,
the main ingredient of Sculptra™, has been used successfully
in surgical procedures, for bioresorbable sutures, in bone
plates and screws, and as a medium for medication, among
others. For more than 25 years. Sculptra™ has been
specially developed to repair contour defects in the face.

1999.[2] Sculptra™ is long-lasting, ,
and .[1]
How does Sculptra™work?
Sculptra™ works in the lower layers of the skin in
order to smooth and firm the treated areas of the face. Sculptra™ is
a unique substance which is gradually and naturally broken
down by the body. Sculptra™ is immunology inert, so
that no allergy tests are necessary before beginning with
treatment.
The number of necessary injections depends on many factors.
After the first treatment, your practitioner will recommend
whether you need any subsequent treatments and how many these
should be. Generally, several treatments can be necessary
to obtain the required results. However, in contrast to some
other treatments which require frequent refresher sessions,
after the end of your Sculptra™ programme the results
will last up to 2 years (The results can differ depending
on age, wrinkling and the type of procedure used) |
Who
performs treatment with Sculptra™?
A qualified practitioner who
has been trained to use the correct procedure for Sculptra™ performs the treatment.
Your Healthcare Professional will clean your skin and then
inject Sculptra™ in the areas of your face being treated.
Does the treatment hurt?
As with all injections you will
feel some discomfort. It may be that you notice a brief burning
sensation at the injection
site. An ice packed applied after the treatment will help
to calm your skin. If necessary, your practitioner can also
give you a local anaesthetic.
What must I bear in mind after the treatment?
Your Healthcare
Professional will give you special aftercare instructions.
These include massaging the treated areas of
your face in the first few days after the treatment. All
you need is a few minutes twice a day.
Are there any side effects?
The most common side effect with the use of Sculptra™ include
injection-related side effects at the site of injection such
as bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising, or swelling.
These effects generally resolve in 2-6 days.
What is the difference between Sculptra
and Dermal Fillers?
Both Sculptra and Dermal Fillers are considered
volumizing procedures. Products such as Hydrafill and Restylane
are
not as long lasting and are much more expensive to use when
treating a large area such as cheekbones enhancements and
chin and jaw-line enhancement. Sculptra and other dermal
fillers can be combined to give a more complete aesthetic
outcome.
How much does the procedure cost?
The price ranges between £400 to £2000
depending on the areas that need to be volumized. This treatment
will
last approximately 2 years.
