Dermal Fillers and Wrinkle Reducing Injections
Traditionally, facial rejuvenation has been achieved with a face-lift by surgically tightening the skin.
Today, a multitude of minimally invasive procedures are aimed at rejuvenation without the risk, recovery time and expense of major surgery Wrinkle smoothing injections, Frown lines, worry lines and crow’s feet can be caused by smiling, laughing or frowning – and the more expressive you are the deeper the lines may become!
As we get older our skin’s repair mechanism slows and so the problem accelerates. The treatments we use can be a very effective non-surgical way to help ease the condition.
How Does It Work?: Temporarily paralysing the dynamic facial muscles that are responsible for wrinkles works to reduce or eliminate the lines when we frown or smile.
Because the movement of the muscle has been reduced and the creases are not being continually formed, the skin can gradually recover causing the lines to soften over time.
What is the Treatment Like?: It involves injections into specific areas according to the placement of your lines and the severity of the condition. You may experience a very brief stinging sensation, but as the injections are so tiny discomfort is generally minimal.
Are There Any Side Effects?: No serious side effects have been reported when used for cosmetic treatments. Immediately after treatment there may be a little swelling or redness, but this usually subsides within a few hours at most. Occasionally some bruising at the injection site may occur.
Very rarely a temporary drooping of the eye lid may occur but this usually resolves quickly. Occasionally some asymmetry may develop, but this is easily rectified with further small injections.
When will I See Results?: It will take 3 – 10 days for the results of treatment to become evident. Results will last 3 – 6 months depending on treatment area and individual response. Effects may last longer with repeat treatments.
How Much Will It Cost?: Treatment starts from £90 per area. Standard treatment areas are the forehead, frown lines and crows feet.
Natural looking results in achieving a softening of lines and a youthful plumping of the cheeks by David Bryden using the Juvaderm Vycross range of dermal fillers.
For years dermal fillers have been used to treat lines, folds and wrinkles resulting in a younger and fresher appearance. The treatment is safe and produces instant results.
What is the difference between the different dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers can be broken down into three categories – bio degradable, semi permanent and permanent. Semi permanent and permanent products, while they produce longer lasting results, are associated with higher risks.
The safest fillers are biodegradable products because any problems associated with the treatment can be reversed. Our clinician prefers to use biodegradable products because of their safety factor. Also, as we age the skin changes so a permanent solution might not be appropriate for the long term.
Can I have the treatment immediately?
Yes. The decision is up to you.
Which products do you provide and why?
Juvèderm® is our preferred range to use because there are a number of different products to choose from which means that we have the flexibility to use a product that is right for your skin type and treatment.
These products are formulated differently to many others and provide a smooth and natural result with minimal swelling. These products have been in the market for over five years and have shown very few adverse responses. Safety and efficacy are our main priorities for our clients.
Is the treatment painful?
There is some discomfort during treatment. The clinician will use a topical anaesthetic on the treated area to minimize any discomfort. For lip augmentation, the clinician prefers to apply a dental block since the treatment is more painful in this area of the face.
What is the cost for the treatments?
The cost varies depending on the areas to be treated. You will need to consult with the clinician before a precise cost can be determined. On average, most treatments cost between £250 and £300.
Do I need to take time off work to have the treatment?
No. This procedure is non invasive and you can return to work after treatment without any noticeable difference.
How long does the treatment last?
Depending on your age and the area treated, you can expect to repeat the treatment twice a year. The treatment will usually last 6-8 months, however, the lip area will last about 5-6 months as there is more mechanical stress in this area and so the product tends to break down more quickly.
8 point Facelift
As we age our faces lose volume due to a loss of collagen, elastin and subcutaneous fat. The visible effect of this is the formation of lines, wrinkles, sagging facial features and hollows in our faces where we used to have cheeks.
The 8 point face lift – so called because of the 8 distinct points where the signs of ageing are most evident – restores volume thereby rejuvenating the face by re-creating those youthful facial features.
How does the 8 point facelift work?
There are 8 areas of the face which have been identified as displaying signs of ageing. The picture identifies these points (pic allergen). By placing dermal filler in these areas the whole face can be lifted and rejuvenated.
Who can have this procedure?
If you are over the age of 35 and have noticed signs of ageing in your face you may well be a good candidate for this procedure. It is suitable for both men and women and can be combined with other anti-ageing techniques if necessary. A consultation with our clinician is the best way to find out if this is the best form of treatment for you.
Does the treatment hurt?
As with any injectable treatment a little discomfort is to be expected, however, a surface anaesthetic can be applied before the procedure which makes it quite tolerable.
There is no real down-time associated with this treatment. There can be some swelling and a little superficial bruising following the procedure but this can be camouflaged with makeup if needed.
When will I see results and how long do they last?
A difference will be seen immediately but will continue to improve over the following weeks as the product settles.
Results can last up to 18 months but as we’re all different this can vary from person to person.
